Four Sisters

I am animation major. For this project, I choose to do a series of character design. My theme is "four sisters." They are sisters and they look alike, but they have different personalities. I will use one color to represent each of them. The first two colors are purple and blue. The rest two colors are red and yellow. They are named under their own color.

Purple is the oldest sister. She represents grown-ups. She experienced a lot in grown up world. She feels like purple that she is mysterious, elegant, and sad.

Blue is the second oldest sister. She represents college aged girls. She is in a little society. This environment is complicated, but still very save and peaceful. She is getting experienced while she is ageing. She is simple and refreshing.

I only have Purple and Blue designed currently. I am not sure about how Red and Yellow will look like yet. Basically, they are high school students and middle school students.

For this project, I try to use fashion proportion for the sisters. They have ten head proportion. In this way, they will look more elegant. I am thinking about using different media to finish each sister, but they will be quite different in that way.
I related them by designing similar clothing patterns and colors. Obviously, they are sisters, so they look alike.

(I dont know how to attach the contact sheet on here....I uploaded it to gostudio.)

First Day

where are you on the Dreamer/Doer spectrum (why) and what area(s) of Media Arts are you going to test-drive (have you ever produced an animation/cinematic/photography masterpiece? What are your goals for this course? What will be your accomplishment?)? Include at least one image of your own art (what are you proud of?).

I think I am in the middle of the Dreamer or Doer spectrum. Like how the article define Dreamer, I usually have a lot of thought when starting something and will very soon have other idea coming out. When that happens, I always end up having a lot of projects which is only a third done. This is my Dreamer side.

Like how the article define Doer, I feel like "a slave to the structural environment of your day job and find it difficult to go “off the map” and innovate." When I am working on my class assignments, I always follow every single rules the teacher made. I just can't go off the map. I can finish all my projects in time, no matter how many hours of sleeping I have to satisfied. I think this is actually a good thing about me. It helps my Dreamer side. Haha.

I plan to go in into 3D animation because I want to either be participating into making those great 3D animation movies or to be working for my favorite game company. 2D animation is cool, but I don't feel myself is that close to it. I took experimental animation last year. I learned and experienced several types of animation. I had made several little animation. They were not that perfect, but they were my first time experience of making animation.

This is a little ten second animation I made for a British animation festival. I used Flash to make it.

Actually, I don't have any idea of what we will do in this class. I will probably expect to know more and deep about animation making process. I want to be a good animator!
